Greek Presidency Priorities in the field of Audiovisual presented in Brussels

In accordance with the announcements made at the EYCS Council on 26 November 2013, by the Minister of Culture, Panos Panagiotopoulos and the Secretary General for Mass Media, Ioannis Panagiotopoulos, the upcoming Greek Presidency presented its priorities for January – June 2014 at the Audiovisual Working Party of the Council on 9 December 2013. These include: 
 
A proposal for a Council Decision on the signing, on behalf of the European Union, of the European Convention on the Legal Protection of Services based on, or consisting of, Conditional Access, following the relevant decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
 
A proposal for a Council Decision on the extension of the entitlement to audiovisual co-production pursuant to Article 5 of the Protocol on Cultural Cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Korea (Poss.).
A proposal for a Council Recommendation on European film in the digital era (Poss.).
 
The Greek Presidency delegation said that an EYCS Council will take place in Brussels on 20-21 May 2014; it also announced that it will host a Conference in Athens, focusing on the protection of minors in the digital era. The Conference will take place on 14-15 April 2014, with the participation of representatives from public administrations of the Member States of the EU, regulatory authorities, the academia and market stakeholders.
