Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos meets in Rome with Italian Minister Federica Mogherini

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Friday, 28 February met in Rome, with Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini.

During the meeting the two ministers discussed the bilateral relations, the priorities of the current Greek Presidency and the upcoming Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU – with emphasis on European policy on illegal migration – energy cooperation between the two countries, as well as international and regional developments.

EU to secure an easier way home for unlawfully removed national treasures

The permanent representatives of the member states have endorsed today the informal agreement reached on 18 February 2014 between the Council and the European Parliament representatives on the proposal for a directive on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a member state.

Central securities depositories: Council confirms agreement with EP

The Permanent Representatives Committee today approved, on behalf of the Council, an agreement reached with the European Parliament on new rules aimed at improving safety in the securities settlement system and at opening the market for central securities depositories (CSD) services.
