Marine Pollution taken seriously: new regulation to strengthen EMSA response mechanism (7.3.2014)

The member states' permanent representatives endorsed today (7.3.2014) the compromise reached between the Council and the European Parliament concerning a regulation to finance the actions of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in the field of response to marine pollution caused by ships and oil and gas installations in the years 2014 to 2020.

Extraordinary meeting of EU Heads of State or Government on Ukraine in Brussels today (6.3.2014)

The extraordinary summit on Ukraine, convened by the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, is expected to begin at 11h30 (CET) today in Brussels.
The summit is expected to end with a press conference around 15h (CET). The EU Heads of State or Government will discuss the latest developments in Ukraine and how to facilitate the necessary de-escalation of the situation.
