The Council of Energy Ministers, chaired by Greek Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Yiannis Maniatis, is taking place in Luxembourg on 13 June. The Council is expected to reach a political agreement on the so-called ILUC (indirect land-use change) directive amending the fuel quality and renewable energy directives. The directive aims to minimise the impact of indirect changes of land use on greenhouse gas emissions, whilst protecting existing investments made in biofuels production.

A commonly accepted, by the member states and the European Commission, agreement on the text amending the Community framework for nuclear safety (2009/71/EURATOM) was endorsed today by the Permanent Representatives Committee of the Council.
