Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Yiannis Maniatis, presented the Priorities in the energy sector at the European Parliament

The minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Yiannis Maniatis, presented the priorities of the Greek Presidency in the field of energy today (22.1.2014), noting that they will be centered on three milestones for the development of the EU Energy Strategy.

The Minister of Culture and Sports Panos Panagiotopoulos presented the priorities of the Greek Presidency in the field of culture and sports, before the EP Committee of Culture and Education (CULT)

“The Greek Presidency aspires to make a meaningful contribution to the debate about the role that cultural heritage and creative economy are set to play in the 21st century” Panagiotopoulos said, addressing the CULT Committee. He additionally stated that “the Presidency will examine innovative ways of funding, financial and social partnerships etc. Emphasis will be laid on the need to shape and promote a common European approach to cultural heritage”.

European Parliament and national Parliaments critical partners for the fulfillment of the Greek Presidency priorities

The President of the ECOFIN, Y. Stournaras, speaking on Wednesday, 22 January, at the Interparliamentary Conference on Economic Governance and the European Semester in the EU, stressed that for the Greek Presidency, the European Parliament as well as national Parliaments constitute critical partners, in order to fulfill its priorities.

“Nautilus: Navigating Greece”. A creative dialogue among works of antiquity and contemporary Greek art, at Brussels’ Bozar Museum.

The main cultural event of the Hellenic Presidency of the European Union, the exhibition “Nautilus: Navigating Greece”, includes 93 ancient artifacts from 30 Greek museums, some of which will be displayed outside Greece for the first time.

The workshop and experts meeting entitled “Enhancing the European Disaster Response Capacity: Joint/Multi-National Modules”, that was organised by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Hellenic Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection, under the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, concluded today at the Zappeion Megaron.

The Minister of Rural Development and Food presented the Greek Presidency priorities to the COMAGRI (Agriculture and Rural Development Committee) of the European Parliament, on January 21, in Brussels. 
 
Minister Tsaftaris noted that "When we talk about Agriculture and Fisheries, we  talk about an important sector of European economy, a pillar of growth and employment, a sector that ensures the quality of our food, respecting natural resources and society".
