Only accredited journalists and technical staff may access the venues of informal ministerial meetings in Athens and the Zappeion Press Centre. Accreditation is obtained via the accreditation system on the Presidency website gr2014.eu.
It is important to note that while the general six-month media accreditation for Brussels based journalists is valid for the entire six-month period of the Greek Presidency, media representatives wishing to attend specific meetings/events must still register for each individual meeting by filling in a registration form on the accreditation platform.
When accessing the online accreditation platform for the first time you will be asked to provide your email address in order to receive your personal access code. You will then need to access the system again and start your registration from the login page.
Registration for the meetings/events of the Presidency can begin from the date the system goes live in December.
To guarantee accreditation confirmation for a specific meeting, registration must be completed at least 10 days prior to the meeting/event.
On the accreditation page you will be requested to enter your personal data, your press card number and attach either a scanned copy of your press card or a letter of reference from the commissioning media.
You will also need to upload a passport photograph respecting the following format:
Type: jpg, png, gif or bmp
Maximum file size: 3Mb
Recommended size: 480 x 640 pixels.
The final step involves selecting the meetings/events you would like to attend. A separate application is required for each meeting/event. Confirmation of your accreditation will be sent to you by email in good time before the meeting/event. You will also receive an email reminding you to confirm your attendance or to cancel your participation if you are unable to attend.
On the basis of the information you have provided and its subsequent validation, an accreditation badge will be issued and made available for collection.
Badge collection
Badges can be picked up from the Accreditation Office at the Zappeion Press Centre in Athens. For the collection days and hours of the badges please check relevant information on each event on our website.
To collect your badge, you will be asked to present a valid identification document (passport or identity card) with a photo as well as your press card or a letter of reference from the commissioning media.
Please note that you must collect your badge in person and wear it in a clearly visible way throughout the meeting/event in order to have access to the Media Centre. You may also be requested to present your personal identification at any time, so please make sure you always carry it with you.
Each badge is valid for the duration of the specific meeting/event it is issued for. Loss of the accreditation badge must be reported immediately either to the Press Centre personnel or the Accreditation Office.

Nationals of some third countries require a visa. It is your sole responsibility to take care of visa requirements. Journalists, who require an entry visa, must allow sufficient time for the visa application procedure.
If you wish to attend meetings in Brussels and Luxembourg during the Greek Presidency of the Council, access and accreditation is granted under the existing rules of the Secretariat General of the Council of the European Union.
More information and contacts are provided on the website of the Council of the EU.
